Articulated Concrete Blocks

ACBs provide a hard armor surface that is an alternative to rip rap. A matrix of individual concrete blocks placed together to form an erosion-resistant overlay with specific hydraulic performance characteristics. Typical applications include channels, shoreline restoration and boat ramps.

ShoreBlock® BD

ShoreBlock® BD is the most durable, effective and environmentally-friendly, erosion control revetment method of fighting severe erosion problems. ShoreBlock BD represents the most advanced, flexible, permeable and versatile system in the erosion control industry. The interlocking design and quality manufacturing results in outstanding performance and reliability under the most demanding hydraulic loading conditions. The interlocking units and corrosion resistant cables allow the ShoreBlock BD system to articulate with unequaled strength and stability. This stability is important on channel bends or curves where angle or wedge mattresses are used. Cable connections between angle mattresses and adjacent mattresses ensure continuous strength throughout the entire revetment system. This unique feature provides the system integrity necessary for a virtually maintance-free revegetative surface.

Shoreloc® Hand-Placed (HP) Series

For small hard to reach areas where cabled mattresses are not feasible, the SHORELOC® Hand-Placed system is available to meet the most in accessible and challenging erosion control needs.

SHORELOC® is used to provide protection for underlying soil materials. The individual blocks of our system conform to changes in grade while remaining interlocked by virtue of the geometric shape of each block. The interlocking property provided by the special shapes of SHORELOC also allow for expansion and contraction. SHORELOC is handplaced on top of a site-selected geotextile to form a soil revetment system.

ShoreBlock® SD

Fabrication of a ShoreBlock SD mat is accomplished by threading corrosive resistant steel or special synthetic cable in one direction through a series of blocks. Cables are then secured to the mattress with corrosive resistant hardware. Cables are sized to provide a 5 to 1 cable strength to mat weight ratio to insure safe handling while providing extraordinary strength in the system. Longitudinal cables are looped together at the ends of each row of blocks in the mat assembly for easy handling and anchoring. In most markets, ACBs are competitive in cost to 12" diameter (or greater) rock (or riprap) placed in an 18" or greater blanket thickness. In most markets, ACBs are competitive with gabion mattresses and ACBs are typically cheaper than cast in place concrete.

ShoreBlock SD mats are assembled according to the size required for a particular project. Each individual block is inspected prior to being incorporated into a revetment mat.
