Mirafi MPG Series are glass fiber composite paving grids, that are manufactured by mechanically bonding bundles of glass fibers to a nonwoven paving fabric. This composite paving grid combines the excellent reinforcing properties of glass filaments with the liquid asphalt retention capacity of a mechanically bonded AASHTO nonwoven paving fabric.
Mirafi MPG Paving Composites mitigate crack reflections for medium to high severities. Performance achieved through installation of a layer of the Mirafi MPG Series is equivalent to the performance seen in 3 to 6 inches of asphalt. They increase traffic capacity for curb constrained pavements, and are suitable for full width overlay, local patching, and joint repair. Mirafi MPG Series prevents water from penetrating into the road sub structure and has a high rebonding potential due to high tack coat application rates. They provide provide uniform bonding between old and new asphalt layers to resist delamination where moving asphalt mixes are used. The Mirafi MPG Series is easy to install on both milled surfaces, and on roads with curves and can be milled with conventional milling machines, and if fully saturated during installation is recyclable.
